What conditions does Dr. Harshit Shah treat?+
Dr. Shah treats adult cancers of the digestive tract, breast, gynaecological organs, head and neck, thyroid, and urinary tract. He also manages cancers that have spread to the lining of the abdomen using CRS, HIPEC and PIPAC.
What is the difference between robotic, laparoscopic and open cancer surgery?+
Robotic and laparoscopic surgery (both minimally invasive) use small incisions, which usually mean less pain, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to daily life. Open surgery uses a larger incision and is chosen when it is the safer option for your specific cancer. The right approach depends on the tumour, not on a fixed preference.
What are CRS, HIPEC and PIPAC?+
Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) removes visible tumour from the abdomen. HIPEC is heated chemotherapy given inside the abdomen during the same operation. PIPAC is a newer, keyhole way of delivering chemotherapy as a fine spray. These are used for cancers that have spread to the abdominal lining from ovarian, colorectal, gastric and other sites.
Do I need a referral to consult Dr. Shah?+
No referral is required. You can book directly at any OPD location. If you have earlier reports, scans or biopsy slides, please carry them — this helps make the consultation more useful.
Can reports be reviewed before the visit?+
For complex cases and second opinions, you may share reports by email in advance so the consultation is focused. Any formal treatment plan is confirmed in person.
Which insurance and hospitals are covered?+
Dr. Shah consults and operates at multiple hospitals across Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan. Most major insurance and TPA policies are accepted at these hospitals — please confirm with the hospital's insurance desk before admission.
